1944年,为推动中国农业工程的发展,邹秉文提出了农业工程留学生计划。该计划分别选拔了农科和工科学生各10名,赴美国两所高校留学,利用学科交叉培养模式,学习农业工程相关理论与实践经验。这批学者归国后,不仅奠定了我国现代意义上农业工程教育及科研的基础,还推动了农业机械化事业的发展,成为新中国农业工程领域的开拓者。通过对该计划的历史梳理和效应分析,进一步指出该计划“学农补工、学工补农”的人才培养理念,对新农科、新工科背景下人才培养和农业工程学科建设有重要意义。
Abstract:
To promote the development of agricultural engineering in China, Zou Bingwen proposed the Agricultural Engineering International Student Program (AEISP) in 1944. The program selected ten students each from agricultural and engineering disciplines to study at two universities in the United States, using the cross-disciplinary training model to learn agrarian engineering. These scholars laid the foundation for agricultural engineering education and scientific research in China upon their return. They promoted the development of agricultural mechanization, becoming pioneers in agrarian engineering in new China. Based on the review of the history of the program and the analysis of its effects, the paper points out the ideological and practical significance of the program’s talent cultivation concept of "learning agriculture to cram engineering and learning engineering to cram agriculture" for the cultivation of talents and the construction of agricultural engineering disciplines in the context of new agricultural and engineering fields.
