武帝实施“外攘夷狄”的拓边政策，随着拓边深入和疆域拓展，国家出现了一系列严重的财政问题。为了推进拓边政策和解决财政问题，汉代大司农的执掌出现了替代少府而辖盐铁、搜粟都尉“大农化”以及所辖人口增多与土地增广等变动，大司农官在武帝朝实施拓边政策中也发挥了重要作用。

Emperor Wu carried out the policy of the “external and barbarian”, with the extension of border and territory expansion, the country has had a series of serious financial problems. In order to promote border policy and solve financial problems, in the Han Dynasty, the official position of Dasinong took the place of Shaofu and controled salt and iron, Sousu du wei replaced Dasinong, and managed more people and more land, Dasinong official also played an important role in the implementation of the border extension policy in the period of Emperor Wu.
